By seventh and eighth grade your child is learning how to be independent as he or she undergoes many changes. They will be developing their interpersonal skills, and may be going through puberty.
Child Learning
Time for formal study and tests
Seventh and eighth-graders undertake more formal study in all subject areas, and reading and writing skills are more critical than ever. They will need to display a higher level of independence and formal study. Students are expected to develop the ability to think hypothetically, to appreciate cause and effect, and to discover multiple approaches to solving a problem. Their knowledge of economic and historical concepts and principles will be expanded, and scientific methodology will be strongly reinforced.
They will also be taking standardized tests. Tests are just a snapshot and part of the bigger picture. They need to do their best, but look out for signs of a stressed-out child. They will need your support and perhaps, the assistance of tutoring services.
