Babysitting

You can't do enough research about child care.

Benefits of Babysitters

We have all heard about the tragedies caused by poor childcare, but the truth is that there are a great many excellent childcare providers around who will have the qualifications and experience to prove it. Live-in childcare providers are often called nannies. Private household workers who are employed on an hourly basis usually are called baby-sitters.

Baby-sitters combine basic care and teaching duties, depending on your timetable and the age of your children. They might bathe, dress, and feed the children, take them to school, and pick them up. They might supervise their play, wash their clothes, and clean their rooms. They also may put them to bed and wake them, read to them, involve them in educational games, take them for doctors' visits, and discipline them.

Teaching and supervision

A good baby-sitter will teach your younger children through play, and supervise them in a firm, calm manner. They should have an obvious love of children, and a desire to do the best they can for them and you. Regular, informal meetings are important for both of you to give feedback. They may well become a good friend, and might even get to take vacations with you!

Good childcare needn't be expensive, and depends on the hours and number of children. More qualified childcare workers often get paid more to work in nurseries, so you might consider paying a little extra for your baby-sitter. Never go for the cheap option without extensive research. Peace of mind and a happy, healthy child are priceless.
