Boy and girl scouting: a worthy, healthy activity for your child

From the age of seven onwards your child will be ready to get involved in organized sports and by eight will be playing as part of a team. These are the years when your child thrives on a busy schedule of learning and activity, so it is a good idea to use this time keep a well-organized timetable of school, sports and club events. At this age, they still tend to play mostly with their own gender. This can be a great time for them to join the boy or girl scouts.

The Boy and Girl Scout movements of America enable children from 1st grade onwards to become part of a group of children in their community. Boy and girl scouting makes a direct and positive impact on your community by teaching positive values such as spiritual growth, good citizenship, sportsmanship and fitness, family understanding, respectful, personal achievement, kindness, teamwork, adventure, and leadership skills to youth.

Range of activities

Scouting offers an array of programs that include outdoor experiences, advancement, recognition, and values. Your children can play, exercise and develop their social skills in a safe environment and experience a wide range of positive influences in a caring environment.

Financial support is always welcome in both movements. More important still is volunteering, which is the backbone of the Boy and Girl Scout movement. If you are interested in finding a scout group for your child, or becoming a helper, there is a scout council in nearly every state. They are counting on your help and support.
