Learning by Grade Level: K-3

There is an explosion in learning for the third-grade child.
Child Learning

What kids learn in grade level K-3

For most eight-year-olds, third grade is a milestone year. By this age many children can fix their lunch, clean their bedrooms and pack their school bag. They will probably be used to school and will separate themselves from you with ease. They may not want a kiss you goodbye any more.

Literacy and math

In school they will begin more structured learning in reading, math, science and social studies. They will become confident, analytical readers, use more precise pronunciation, grammar, sentence structure, and word use, have an increased attention span for listening and be able to relate experiences in greater detail and in a logical way

In math they will be introduced to fractions and decimals, telling the time and counting money, along with more complex mathematical subjects such as angles and lines of symmetry.

Their homework will increase at this time. There is a great deal of information available about online math tutors and online homework help, if you need it.
